Electric Pool Heaters - Electric Heat Pumps For Pools

How do heat pumps work?
Heat pumps use a clean, energy efficient system to heat your swimming pool. Rather than burning expensive, dirty fossil fuels, heat pumps draw warmth from the outside air and transfer it to the pool water. By taking advantage of naturally present heat, heat pumps can heat your pool consistently at one-third of the average operating cost of a conventional (e.g. gas/oil/propane) heater and are better for the environment!

One of the key metrics used to compare the performance of pool heaters is the Coefficient of Performance (“CoP”). CoP is simply the ratio of energy used to heat generated. A typical fossil fuel heater has a CoP of 1:1, meaning that for each unit of fuel burned, one unit of heat is generated. Our heat pumps operate (depending on the model) at CoPs of 5.7:1 – 6.2:1. This impressive rating places our heat pumps among the industry leaders in efficiency and performance.

How much does it cost and what will I save?
Heat pump prices vary based on the size of the swimming pool – the larger the pool, the larger the heat pump required to heat it. We offer four heat pump models to accommodate any size swimming pool. Prices range from $3,900 (above ground or small in-ground pool) to $5,900 (in-ground larger than 20x40).

These prices include the unit and installation; however, it is important to note that our prices exclude the cost to provide a dedicated electric line to power the system. All heat pumps require a dedicated electric line of 40-60 amps. The cost of paying a licensed electrician to run the line can run from $200 - $2,000, depending on the distance from the source of electricity to the unit and any barriers (e.g. patios) to running the wire. Sunshine will be happy to refer a professional and responsive electrician to provide you a fair price quote.

The cost to operate a heat pump over the course of full swim season in the Northeast generally ranges between $500 and $900. Assuming the same pattern of use, fossil fuel heaters generally cost $1,500 - $2,700 to operate. Your actual operating cost will be determined by the temperature you maintain, the length of your swim season, and whether or not you use a pool blanket.

All Aerotemp service professionals are 100% dedicated to supporting Aerotemp heat pumps in their service territory.

Benefits of Aerotemp include:
